China probes executives at Volkswagen joint venture

Two senior executives from Volkswagen’s biggest joint venture in China are under investigation for “seriously violating the law”, the Chinese Communist party’s corruption watchdog said yesterday.

According to a statement posted on the website of the Central Commission of Discipline Inspection, the unspecified violations were discovered during a probe of First Auto Works, one of the largest state-owned car companies.

The executives, identified as Li Wu and Zhou Chun, were respectively former deputy general manager of VW and FAW’s joint venture and deputy head of its Audi sales division.
