My daughter has just left a good university with a first in English. She edited the student newspaper and was active in various charities. Since spring she has applied for more than 100 jobs but has got only two interviews. She can’t even find anyone to let her work for free. I tell her to be patient and keep trying, but she’s getting depressed. I’ve arranged for her to earn pocket money helping a friend with her business.
Should I encourage her to do something more radical? Learn Chinese? Do more degrees in something sensible? Become an entrepreneur?
