Boeing boss to admit ‘mistakes’ before Congress

Boeing’s chief executive will on Tuesday tell the US Senate his company “made mistakes” with the design of the 737 Max aircraft, as he testifies in front of Congress for the first time since two of the jets crashed within five months, killing 346 people.

In a written statement to the Senate commerce committee ahead of the hearing, Dennis Muilenburg said Boeing made errors which it was now fixing as it tries to get hundreds of grounded Max aircraft back in the air.

In his statement, Mr Muilenburg said: “We know we made mistakes and got some things wrong. We own that, and we are fixing them. We have developed improvements to the 737 Max to ensure that accidents like these never happen again.”
