Use machines to cut the queues at airport arrivals

Breaking out of the long Heathrow airport arrivals line for non-European passport holders, one man yelled at three immigration officers who were standing and chatting.

There are unstaffed desks, he told them, and you three are hanging around. We have just got off an overnight flight, we are tired and we have been waiting for ages.

One of the officers, apparently the manager, said he thought the arrivals process was going smoothly.
