Police investigations into Lord Peter Mandelson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor could take more than a year to conclude, according to England’s chief prosecutor.
Stephen Parkinson, the director of public prosecutions, said on Thursday that the Mandelson probe into alleged misconduct in public office was “a complex case, which will involve examining events over a period of years”.
He added: “It’s going to involve vast quantities of data . . . that may then lead to further strands of enquiry.”
