Hello and welcome to Energy Source, coming to you from New York, where the US oil and refining industries are enjoying a record export boom.

More than 8.2mn barrels a day of refined fuels including petrol, diesel and jet fuel were shipped from the US to overseas last week, an increase of more than 20 per cent on the same period last year, according to the latest data from the US Energy Information Administration.
