Donald Trump has assailed America’s allies for their approaches to immigration, renewable energy and the Ukraine war, culminating with a warning that “your countries are going to hell”.
In a nearly hour-long speech at the UN, Trump portrayed himself as a global peacemaker and architect of a US revival, proclaiming: “We are the hottest country anywhere in the world.”
Trump used much of his address to the UN General Assembly, his first since 2020, as a platform to chastise the rest of the world, from which his administration has grown increasingly detached on matters of vision, values and policy.
