Twitter has temporarily suspended Donald Trump Jr from tweeting for violating its misinformation rules after he shared a video of politically affiliated doctors promoting the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus.
The social media platform said on Tuesday that it required the president’s son to delete a tweet of the video because it violated its rules on “sharing misinformation on COVID-19”. Twitter has restricted his account from posting or retweeting for 12 hours.
Donald Trump himself also shared the video, which was removed and replaced with a label from Twitter saying it was “no longer available”. He did not face the same action as his son, Twitter said, because he retweeted the video rather than posting it himself.
