Hong Kong protesters target Chinese government office

Hong Kong’s protesters sought to escalate mass demonstrations against an extradition bill in the city on Sunday by targeting one of China’s main government offices in the territory for the first time.

After marching for much of the afternoon through central Hong Kong, thousands of protesters gathered at the Liaison Office for Hong Kong, Beijing’s representative bureau.

Demonstrators spray-painted over the lenses of security cameras in front of the building and one threw an egg that splattered on its glass facade. Others wrote graffiti on a wall including an insult against China, and defaced lettering on the building’s gate.
