New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern said on Monday she would travel to Beijing next week to meet Chinese president Xi Jinping, amid concerns among New Zealand business leaders about deteriorating relations with the country’s biggest trading partner.
Ms Ardern will travel to Beijing on Monday for a one-day visit, which has been cut short following the terrorist attacks on two Mosques in Christchurch that killed 50 people.
“This was a visit that was planned some weeks ago, but given the terrorist attacks in Christchurch, I have cut it back to one day of meetings,” she said.
