Donald Trump has denied his presidential campaign violated election financing rules in his first interview since his personal lawyer struck a plea deal with federal prosecutors.
The US president said he knew about payments made to two women — porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal — who alleged having affairs with Mr Trump more than a decade ago.
Michael Cohen, Mr Trump’s personal lawyer for many years, secured a plea deal earlier this week that implicated the president in an illegal scheme to pay the women using campaign funds.
