“Significant additional work” is needed to manage the risks to UK national security from the involvement of China’s Huawei in the country’s critical networks, a body that monitors checks on the company’s activities warned on Thursday.
The alert in the fourth annual report of the Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre Oversight Board marks a significant strengthening of its language compared with last year, suggesting concerns have increased.
The company is barred from supplying the telecoms market in the US and many other countries because of concerns its devices contain “back doors” that might allow Chinese security services to access devices.
