The China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is set to extend its financing operations to Latin America and Africa after reaching agreements with those regions’ leading development banks.
The moves represent an important step in the AIIB’s metamorphosis from an Asia-focused lender into a global institution similar in structure to the World Bank.
“There is a growing range of partners,” Danny Alexander, vice-president of the AIIB, said in an interview.
