Kyrgyzstan state security has confirmed that Syria-based Uighur militants were behind the suicide bombing of the Chinese embassy in Bishkek last Tuesday.
The driver of the car that crashed into the Chinese embassy gates late on August 30th, injuring three Chinese embassy staff, was an ethnic Uighur with a Tajik passport named Zoir Kahlilov, the GKNB security service said in a statement on Tuesday night, Reuters reported.
The GKNB said Mr Kahlilov is a member of the East Turkestan Islamic movement, and that the attack was ordered by Uighur terrorist groups active in Syria and financed by emissaries of Nusra Front, a terrorist group that split from al-Qaeda in July and has since renamed itself Jabhat Fatah al-Sham.
