Huge explosions hit an industrial area in the north-eastern Chinese port city of Tianjin late on Wednesday, triggering a blast wave that was felt kilometres away and injuring scores of people, Chinese media reported.
China Central Television, the state broadcaster, reported that blasts had erupted in a shipment of explosives at around 23.30 local time (16.30GMT).
The BBC and news agencies reported police as saying that at least seven people had been killed, with at least another 300 injured.
