Alibaba is again fending off political pressure after Taiwan ordered the Chinese ecommerce group to withdraw from the country, accusing it of violating investment rules by hiding the fact that it was a mainland entity.
The Taiwan Investment Commission, a branch of the Ministry of Economic affairs, said it had fined Alibaba NT$120,000 ($3,824).
It ordered the group to withdraw from the country or transfer its holdings from its Taiwan operation within six months.
