The exchange traded funds industry made a strong start to the second half of the year after gathering net inflows of $33.8bn in July, helped by record monthly inflows in Europe and a continuing recovery in the demand for emerging markets ETFs.
Investors ploughed $10.6bn into European listed ETFs (funds and products) in July. Inflows so far this year have reached $42.7bn, compared with just $7.1bn in the same period last year, according to ETFGI, a consultancy.
At the same time emerging markets ETFs posted a fourth consecutive month of inflows, which reached $6.6bn in July, slightly lower than the $7.3bn gathered in June.
