‘Let’s spend the night together’ in Macau

When Mick Jagger prances across the stage at the Venetian casino resort in Macau next weekend, it will be the loudest signal yet that the Chinese territory is spreading its chips around.

The Rolling Stones are following in the footsteps of everyone from Rihanna and newly-minted bad boy Justin Bieber to the Harlem Globetrotters, Tiger Woods and David Beckham.

The dramatic rise in the number of global stars coming to Macau reflects a push by the six companies that hold gaming licences – Sands China, Wynn Macau, Melco Crown, SJM, Galaxy and MGM China – to provide more kinds of moneymaking entertainment to capitalise on the dizzying boom in mainland Chinese tourists.
