Lenovo, the second-biggest computer maker by shipments, expects to see a fall in corporate orders from the west this year but is confident that Chinese demand growth will more than compensate, even though the economy is growing more slowly.
Yang Yuanqing, chairman and chief executive, said fewer than 30 per cent of the population owned personal computers in China, compared with 99 per cent in the US.
“The highest growth is coming from small-to-medium sized cities. These are China’s own emerging markets,” he said.
