KYRGYZ SEEK RUSSIAN HELP AFTER CLASHES

Kyrgyzstan appealed for Russian help on Saturday to stop ethnic fighting that has killed at least 62 and left parts of its second-largest city in flames, renewing fears of civil war in the central Asian country.

The violence that erupted on Friday was the worst since an uprising in April which toppled Kurmanbek Bakiyev, the president, and killed at least 86 people.

The interim government, which took power after the uprising, imposed a state of emergency in the city of Osh, the capital of the south, and Uzgen, a nearby market town.
