Samsung strike in doubt after court ruling

Shares rise after injunction restricts unions’ ability to halt production at South Korean chipmaker

A planned strike by Samsung Electronics workers is in doubt after a South Korean court granted the company a court injunction, saying industrial action must not disrupt production at the world’s largest memory chipmaker.

The Suwon District Court on Monday partially accepted Samsung’s injunction request against two unions, in effect restricting their planned 18-day walkout due to start on Thursday.
