The US and Iran continue to exchange messages about a deal to end their war through back channels despite the failure of weekend talks to reach an agreement, said people briefed on the discussions.
The marathon negotiations in Islamabad on Saturday — the highest level talks between Washington and Tehran in almost half a century — ended with US vice-president JD Vance blaming Iran for its unwillingness to commit to not developing a nuclear weapon.
But two diplomats said there were “active talks” ongoing through mediators to extend the ceasefire and secure a more permanent deal.
