US and Iran locked in marathon talks to end war

Historic negotiations aim to end a widening conflict that has stoked a global energy crisis

The US and Iran were deadlocked in marathon talks over the weekend in a bid to end a war that has spread across the Middle East and triggered a global energy crisis.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday afternoon, US President Donald Trump said the US was in “very deep negotiations with Iran” and “we’ll see what happens”.

But he added: “Whether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me . . . because we’ve won”.
