Hundreds of thousands of Lloyds Banking Group customers were affected by an IT glitch that allowed them to see other users’ account transactions and sensitive information on its banking apps.
Almost 448,000 account holders at Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland were affected last month due to a bug caused by a software update, according to a letter published by the Treasury select committee on Friday.
About a quarter clicked on other users’ transactions, which could have allowed them to view confidential information such as account details, national insurance numbers and payment references, the letter said.
