Iranian attacks on Strait of Hormuz an ‘act of terrorism’, says head of UAE’s Adnoc

Sultan al-Jaber’s comments come as Donald Trump says US has held talks with Tehran on ending the war

The chief executive of United Arab Emirates state energy company Adnoc has called Iran’s attacks in the Strait of Hormuz an “act of terrorism against every nation” and called for the strategic waterway to remain open.

“No country should be allowed to hold Hormuz hostage. Not now. Not ever,” said Sultan al-Jaber, head of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, in remarks at the CeraWeek conference in Houston.

Adnoc, which is among the biggest gas producers in the Middle East, has suffered multiple attacks on its infrastructure since the war in Iran began. It has curbed its oil and liquefied natural gas output as a result.
