Israeli strikes on Yemen have killed the Houthis’ military chief of staff, delivering the biggest blow against the Iranian-backed group in almost two years of conflict with Israel.
The Houthis said in a post on X that Major General Mohammed Abdulkarim al-Ghamari had died, saying he was killed along with some of his colleagues and his son. It was not clear when the attack took place.
Israeli defence minister Israel Katz added that Ghamari — the highest ranking Houthi to be killed by Israel — had died from wounds after an attack targeting the militant movement’s leadership.
