Donald Trump has called on the US Supreme Court to allow him to remove Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook from the central bank while she pursues legal action against the president.
The president, in an application filed on Thursday, called for judgments that permitted Cook to remain in her job for the time being to be reversed.
If the Supreme Court agrees to take on the case, it could lead to a landmark decision on how independent the world’s most powerful central bank is from the US executive branch.
