Israeli airport hit by drone from Yemen’s Houthis

First such strike in months comes after Red Sea cables were cut in unexplained incident

A drone launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen hit Ramon airport in southern Israel, the Israeli military said on Sunday, prompting aviation authorities to halt flights and close airspace around the terminal.

Israel’s airports authority said the drone hit the arrivals hall at the small airport near the southern city of Eilat, which mainly caters for domestic tourist flights, and that incoming and outgoing flights were briefly suspended.

It was the first successful Houthi strike on an Israeli airport in months.
