Thousands of staff at Boeing will find out as early as this week whether they still have a job, as the US aerospace group prepares to set out details of its plan to cut about 17,000 positions from its global workforce.
Chief executive Kelly Ortberg told employees on Friday that “restoring our company requires tough decisions” as well as structural changes, to ensure that “we can stay competitive and deliver for our customers over the long term”.
Managers have been told to expect more details on the cost-cutting measures on Monday. The reductions will take place across the group over the coming months and include executives, managers and employees.
