Hamas on Thursday released six women and two children held in Gaza as the delicate exchange of Palestinian prisoners for Israeli hostages entered its sixth day, under the cover of a temporary truce brokered by Qatar.
In return, Israel was to free another 30 Palestinian women and children from its prisons, according to the Qatari foreign ministry.
The exchange took place after the fragile truce between Israel and the Palestinian militant group, which took effect last week, was extended at the last minute on Thursday morning.
