Korean Air ‘nut rage’ former executive detained

The daughter of Korean Air’s chairman has been detained as a flight risk ahead of a trial on charges related to an incident in which she delayed an airliner’s departure with a tantrum over macadamia nuts.

Cho Hyun-ah, who was a vice-president in charge of cabin service at the family-run airline, will face charges related to aviation safety law, the Seoul western prosecutors’ office said on Tuesday. Television footage showed her being led away by authorities shortly after a court had issued an arrest warrant.

“There is a risk of flight or evidence tampering by them while investigations are under way,” the Seoul western district court said.
