For Heinrich Deichmann, running Europe’s largest shoe retailer is about much more than just selling affordable footwear, and lots of it.
The owner and chief executive of the Germany-based shoe empire that bears his family name is on a multigenerational mission that goes far beyond the day-to-day management of a privately held company with €5.8bn in annual sales that is defying the high street retail crisis.
The company, Mr Deichmann is adamant, “has a deeper meaning than just generating revenue and profit.”
