Donald Trump has denied that he had worked for Russia, after his refusal to answer the question during a television interview fuelled more questions about the president’s ties to Moscow.
Twenty months into the investigation by Robert Mueller, special counsel, Mr Trump is facing renewed scrutiny for his relationship with Vladimir Putin. The Washington Post reported that Mr Trump had taken steps to conceal details of his conversations with the Russian president from members of his administration, including officials from the state department and National Security Council.
In the interview that aired on Saturday evening, Mr Trump said it was “insulting” to imply that he had ever worked for Russia, but did not explicitly deny that he had until yesterday, when he was asked the same question by a White House reporter.
