A Chinese manufacturer of electric vehicles has hit back at allegations it transferred low-cost labour to a bus factory in Los Angeles.
BYD, whose investors include Warren Buffett, said yesterday it had “temporarily loaned” Chinese specialists to the facility as part of a transfer of technology from its headquarters in southern China to California.
Chinese companies such as BYD have been courted by US and European politicians eager to attract investment and employment in struggling areas.
