North Korea said yesterday that it would withdraw its workers from the Kaesong industrial complex it jointly runs with South Korea, and temporarily suspend operations there.
The announcement increases pressure on Seoul and deals a blow to South Korean companies operating in the only sphere of inter-Korean economic co-operation.
It came after a high-ranking North Korean official yesterday visited the Kaesong factory park located close to the heavily armed border between the two Koreas.
