The global financial crisis is changing the way business education is viewed and making people think seriously before committing tens of thousands of dollars to a course. But Leonard Cheng is not worried.
While the business school of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, headed by Prof Cheng, has seen a slight drop in applications for part-time graduate programmes, waiting lists for full-time courses have grown.
A sudden surge in the number of bankers and executives who have lost their jobs has obviously helped. But Prof Cheng says a more important reason is that the school has established a name in business education that enables it to continue to draw students amid the downturn.
